Quick updates on our Race Against Hunger campaign! We have had such incredible support over the past few weeks that we’ve had to double the total distance from 6,287km to 12,574 km! All the money raised from this campaign is going directly towards keeping families nourished during these difficult times.

We are so excited to be teaming up with @tenfed and @riseupkidsinternational for the Race Against Hunger to help us continue our Covid 19 relief initiative!

Together we will virtually trek the 6,287 km from Ottawa, Canada to Managua, Nicaragua to provide 25,000 meals to families in need.

Run, walk, swim, yoga, surf, golf, ski—dedicate your daily exercise to a cause from January 1st—31st, 2021

We have been overwhelmed by the generous response

We have been overwhelmed by the generous response to our joint fundraising campaign with @riseupkidsinternational . So far, we have raised close to $12,000! and have just recently completed our third supplies run to around 70 families (photos by @freelantz_cr). This also included the making and distribution of 100+ masks by local women from the community!⁣
⁣
We are quickly realizing that we will need to ramp up our efforts and are already planning for our next larger distribution run as we try to reach more families in need. Thank you to all of you who have donated and helped spread the word. For those of you who would like to support our efforts please follow the link in our bio to learn more. No amount is too small, and 100% of these proceeds are going towards providing food and essential supplies to families in need during this difficult time.⁣

It has been a while since you’ve probably last h

It has been a while since you’ve probably last heard from us and a lot has changed in the world. Due to the impacts of the recent shut down from Covid 19 we have recently had to make the difficult decision to suspend our monthly scholarship program in order to direct funding towards providing basic necessities such as food and medical supplies to the surrounding communities in norther Nicaragua. We have completed two food deliveries to about 50 families and are quickly realizing that the need is increasing and our resources are dwindling.⁣
⁣
We are now teaming up with our friends at @riseupkidsinternational for a fundraising effort specifically geared towards providing basic human necessities such as food, clean water and medical supplies during this difficult time. We realize that the impacts of this virus are global and many people are suffering; however, if you do find yourself in a position to give please follow the link in our bio to learn more. No amount is too small, a $25 dollar donation will provide a family with a week’s worth of food. With your help, we will continue to provide a bit of relief and support to our surrounding communities in northern Nicaragua. ⁣

A huge thanks goes out to these professionals at @hydrologica_ who capped the well at 220 ft yesterday at the San Luis elementary school project. We are happy to report that they tapped into a excellent water source that will be providing clean drinking water to the 800+ residents of San Luis, and all the kids who are attending the school! @cocolocoresort

Great news!!! We are teaming up with a TV production company from the US that is currently filming a multi part series called The Fixers. This show is focused around the philanthropic theme of helping existing non profit organizations complete major projects in a short time frame. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Waves of Hope has been selected for the next episode where they will be working with us on a school reconstruction and community water project in San Luis, Nicaragua. A community without proper access to water and with a school that is in desperate need of repair. We are so grateful for this opportunity!! We are currently seeking support for this project so all donations from now until Jan 20 will go directly towards construction costs. Please follow the link in bio and click on the donation tab. Our projects and initiatives have always been centered on what will make the greatest impact towards the health and prosperity our surrounding communities in northern Nicaragua. As we move into 2019, we continue to focus on improving the quality of life through strengthening local education, healthcare, infrastructure and environment. We hope to see you this coming year at Coco Loco so you can see for yourself how small changes can make a huge impact for future generations.

This is a traditional Nicaraguan dance that was choreographed by the students themselves.
